I recently did some logo design work for Philip Hewetson, owner of startup company Goyt Valley Promotion Ltd. Philip’s new venture is about supporting businesses in the Goyt Valley area.

Philip came to me with the seed of an idea and I worked with him to refine it and bring it to life.

I focused my ideas on creating a logo that was natural and dynamic. I was conscious that whatever I produced had to reflect the Goyt Valley area as a pleasant and exciting place to live and work.

After a few initial sketches I arrived at this design. The mark itself is quite versatile, it can be used without the copy and reversed onto photography.

Philip’s original idea for a colour scheme was a good one so after tweaking the colour palette slightly I arrived at an organic green and blue which reflects the natural feel of the Goyt Valley.

The typeface I used is ITC Eras, a friendly looking, italicised serif typeface.
